A tiny plan for your day

Estimated time: 5 min to prepare · 12 min to explore · 3 min to tidy. It's fine to stop early.

Before you start

What you’ll need

  • Fresh, juicy green leaves or fallen petals
  • A square of old cotton, like a pillowcase scrap, or thick kitchen roll
  • A wooden spoon or rolling pin
  • A chopping board or flat log

Let's begin

Four simple steps

That's the whole activity. Tick each step off as you go, and stop whenever you like.

  1. Lay the fabric on the board and let your child arrange a few leaves on one half.

  2. Fold the other half over the top.

  3. Tap, tap, tap firmly all over the leaves with the spoon or rolling pin. Listen for the sound changing.

  4. Unfold slowly and see what's appeared.

All done!

That's every step. However it went, you made a little moment together.
