A tiny plan for your day

Estimated time: 5 min to gather · 12 min to make · 3 min to tidy. It's fine to stop early.

Before you start

What you’ll need

  • One sturdy stick for the handle, about as long as your child's arm
  • A handful of thin twigs or long dry grass
  • String or wool, cut into short lengths

Let's begin

Five simple steps

That's the whole activity. Tick each step off as you go, and stop whenever you like.

  1. Bundle the thin twigs around one end of the stick.

  2. Hold tight while an adult wraps string around them and ties a knot.

  3. Add a second string lower down for extra hold.

  4. Decorate the handle with wool or leaves.

  5. Ride it round the garden, or sweep a path through the leaves.

All done!

That's every step. However it went, you made a little moment together.
