A tiny plan for your day

Estimated time: 8 min to lay out · 15 min to walk · 2 min to tidy. It's fine to stop early.

Before you start

What you’ll need

  • Evergreen sprigs, like fir or pine
  • A battery lantern or tealight in a jar
  • A clear patch of floor or lawn

Let's begin

Five simple steps

That's the whole activity. Tick each step off as you go, and stop whenever you like.

  1. Lay the evergreens on the ground in a big spiral, with a path between the rows.

  2. Place the lit lantern in the centre.

  3. Little one leads

Your child walks slowly into the middle, carrying an unlit tealight.

  4. Light it from the centre (an adult switches it on) and carry it out.

  5. Place it along the spiral. Light growing in the darkest time of year.

All done!

That's every step. However it went, you made a little moment together.
