Orange slice garland
Little suns for winter windows. Dry orange slices and thread them into a glowing garland.
*Illustrative age guidance. Your child's development and circumstances matter more than a number.

A tiny plan for your day
Estimated time: 5 min to prepare · 10 min to thread · 5 min to tidy. Allow a few hours for drying first. Plus waiting time: drying. It's fine to stop early.
Before you start
What you’ll need
- Two oranges, sliced thinly and dried in a low oven by an adult
- String or twine
- A blunt plastic needle, or tape on the end of the string
Let's begin
Five simple steps
That's the whole activity. Tick each step off as you go, and stop whenever you like.
Hold an orange slice up to the light. What can you see?
- Grown-up job
An adult makes a small hole near the top of each slice.
- Little one leads
Your child threads the slices onto the string.
Add pine cones, cinnamon sticks or leaves in between.
Hang it in a window and watch the light shine through.
That's every step. However it went, you made a little moment together.
