A tiny plan for your day

Estimated time: 10 min to walk there · 30 min to watch · 5 min to head back. It's fine to stop early.

Before you start

What you’ll need

  • A local nature reserve with a bird hide
  • Toilet roll binoculars or real ones
  • A snack for quiet moments

Let's begin

Five simple steps

That's the whole activity. Tick each step off as you go, and stop whenever you like.

  1. Practise whisper voices on the way.

  2. Open the hide window slowly and quietly.

  3. Look at the water and reeds. Ducks? Swans? Herons?

  4. Use the picture boards in the hide to name what you see.

  5. Count your sightings before you leave.

All done!

That's every step. However it went, you made a little moment together.
