- A big tub or washing-up bowl
- Dry leaves, big pine cones, sticks, bark and conkers for older ones
- Scoops, cups and a small bowl

Your child tips everything into the tub.
Scoop, pour and dig.
Hide a toy animal and go on a hunt.
Feel the textures. What's crunchy? What's smooth? What's prickly?
Make a little home for the toy animal.
